Blind Mule Behavioral Services is your premier school-based behavior support agency. We are licensed and insured to provide a variety of school based services to affect positive behavioral change. Blind Mule staff are passionate about education and have extensive experience working in public schools. All staff are highly qualified, licensed and certified to provide the services described below.
Below is a brief summary of who we are and a description of the services we provide:
Behavior Specialist (BCaBA, BCBA): Behavior specialists are either Board Certified Behavior Analysts or working towards obtaining board certification. Behavior specialists provide a wide variety of behavior analytic services to help you and your staff address the specific needs of your school. Behavior specialists can work with your school to provide professional development and coaching in the area of classroom management, school wide discipline (PBIS) and Tier 2 interventions. In addition, behavior specialists may conduct a variety of assessments to develop, implement, model, and train/coach staff on the implementation of individualized plans to address the most challenging behaviors.
Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT): Our behavior technicians are either registered through the Behavior Analysis Certification Board or are working towards certifying as a Registered Behavior Technician. These highly skilled individuals work under the direction of our BCBA’s to help conduct a variety of assessments as well as implement and support staff in implementing a variety of programs and behavior intervention plans.
Classroom Management Coaching: As a classroom teacher, every year or class period brings a different challenge. Teachers need to have a variety of skill sets to address the various needs of their students. This is where we can help. Our staff have extensive experience as educators working with students in the classroom setting. Our coaching classroom management service consists of a collaborative 5 phase process that begins with 1) a self assessment of strengths and challenges, 2) observations of the instructional setting and ecological assessments so as to match the interventions/recommendations to the instructional setting, 3) working collaboratively with the classroom teacher to develop a plan, 4) providing on-site support working side by side with the teacher in the classroom and 5) follow up support for continuous improvement. Cost will depend on the number of teachers and the need for professional development.
School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS): Implementation of a systematic school-wide (PBIS) framework can have a tremendous impact on the climate of a school. Our school-wide PBIS package consists of 6 - 12 hours of training for your faculty on the 5 core features of PBIS and collaboratively working with your staff to develop an action plan for systematically implementing those core features. In addition, we schedule 3 days of on-site technical assistance to assist staff with the implementation of the core features and to conduct a school wide evaluation. Most importantly, we work with the school to customize core features and apply a formative approach to the implementation and evaluation stages.
NEW - Seamless Social Emotional Learning (S-SEL): Implementation of a Seamless Social Emotional Learning framework benefits both the students and the staff through teacher retention and wellness, increases in student achievement and attendance, and a reduction in discipline. Our S-SEL service package provides the school leadership team and administration with the foundational knowledge of SEL that integrates seamlessly with other core educational components such as: trauma informed practices, PBIS. restorative practices, and tiered systems of support for both academics and attendance. In addition, we work with your educators so that they understand the basics of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to better help them engage with their own wellness and increase the Social Emotional Learning of their students.
Tier 2 Behavior Support: When students need additional behavioral support beyond a tier 1 system, schools should be equipped to intervene. The goal for our tiered behavior support services is to train the faculty on a 4 step problem solving model and to equip the staff with implementing a few, but incredibly effective, tier 2 interventions. This service consists of training staff, customizing materials, coordinating services, modeling and supporting the initial implementation of the procedures, conducting implementation checks, and making adjustments as needed to ensure the school is receiving maximum benefit from the interventions and equipped to sustain those practices.
NEW - Teaching Social Skills Works: How many times have you uttered the phrase, “he/she can tell you the skill, but they don’t use it.”? Social skills training is an integral part of teaching students better coping skills. However, the key to any effective social skills training program is promoting self awareness and planning for generalization. We provide both onsite and off-site training in social skills, self awareness and generalization strategies. As part of this service, school staff are equipped with the ability to teach students social skills, enhance their self awareness and plan for the (actively promote) generalization of their skills to new settings. We love social skills!
Functional Behavioral Assessments & Behavior Intervention Plans: Need a behavior plan for a struggling student or looking for an independent educational evaluation (IEE)? Blind Mule has a variety of resources, tools, experienced staff and expertise to ensure the assessment is done right and a plan is appropriately calculated to fit the educational setting. Whether we are onsite utilizing a variety of assessment procedures or using our clinic, we work with your staff, students and parents to produce an assessment that is not only accurate but meaningful. If you are not confident with the results then our work is not done. Once the assessment is complete, we conduct an ecological assessment of the students environment prior to developing a behavior intervention plan so that you receive a plan that is not only individualized but customized to fit the instructional setting.
Tier 3 Intensive Intervention (add on to FBA & BIP): The tier 3 intensive intervention package is for schools that need additional technical assistance beyond the FBA and BIP. Once a plan is developed, we develop the materials, data collection tools and work directly with the student to make any adjustments as needed. Once underway, we employ a behavior skills training approach to train your staff on the implementation of the plan. We model and train staff on the implementation procedures. Training consists of training videos, cumulative rehearsal, practice with feedback and gradual release. Additional follow up observations can be scheduled to ensure implementation fidelity and to make adjustments as necessary.
Crisis Management Training: This 1-2 day training includes training staff on crisis prevention, de-escalation, crisis management, and state compliance regarding the use of USBE Least Restrictive Behavioral Interventions and emergency safety interventions.
Home & School Connections (Bridge Program): Our main clientele are schools and districts. However, we understand the importance of a strong TEAM and having collaborative relationships with parents. Our home and school connections program helps bridge the gap between home and school to better address the complex needs of the student. We provide an independent and unbiased treatment approach to addressing student needs without sacrificing services and working relationships as a result of potential conflicts of interest.
Building Administrative Intervention (Coaching Administrators on Discipline Practices): Processing office discipline referrals can be a challenging task. Improper application may result in little or no change in student behavior or an increase of discipline referrals. Our staff will walk you through the process of responding to disciplinary referrals, problem solving with disciplinary data, de-escalation of crisis situations, intensive teaching of school/classroom expectations, teacher and student collaboration regarding the successful re-entry to the classroom and the appropriate use of disciplinary practices so as to avoid inadvertent reinforcement of challenging behavior.
Professional Development: Blind Mule Behavioral Services staff are vetted to ensure you receive high quality professional development. Professional development can be individually catered to address your specific needs. Examples of professional development include School-wide PBIS, classroom management, Tier 2 interventions, data collection, social skills instruction, social/emotional learning, MTSS, and crisis management.
General Consultation services: Additional consultation services are offered at an hourly rate and may vary depending on travel, time and services.
